The first trailer for Michael, the upcoming biographical drama chronicling the life of legendary musician Michael Jackson, has officially dropped.
The film charts the rise of the pop icon, tracing Jackson’s journey from his early years to his transformation into a global superstar. Offering a detailed look at his evolution, the feature highlights everything from his breakout as the prodigious young lead of the Jackson 5 to his ascent into one of the most influential figures in modern music through relentless drive and artistic ambition.
Much of the early buzz centers on the casting of Jaafar Jackson—Michael Jackson’s real-life nephew—who steps into the role of the King of Pop. Jaafar is drawing widespread attention for his striking resemblance to his uncle, capturing not only Jackson’s look and vocal tone but also his signature onstage presence.
Helming the project is Antoine Fuqua, known for his dynamic visual style and emotional grit in films such as Training Day, The Equalizer and Southpaw. Fuqua aims to bring a layered portrayal of Jackson, delving into the artist’s inner life, creative impulses and the personal turmoil that accompanied his meteoric public image.
‘Michael’ is slated for a domestic release on May 13, 2026.
